Afterthoughts - Ruby Sparks
This time it is the Movie, Ruby Sparks, for directors
Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris and writer/co-star Zoe Kazan.
In this movie, Calvin, a lonely writer suddenly finds a character
he made up/wrote living in his house, practically in love with him. Only to realize
soon afterwards that this girl, is basically his creation and anything he wants
to change or add in her character can be done so easily through writing, which
he vows to never use because she is his dream girl, but soon he succumbs
to the temptations.
“It was once said of Catcher in the Rye. That rare miracle of fiction has again come to pass. A human being has been created out of ink, paper and the imagination.” – Calvin Weir-Fields.
As things unfold, the character starts getting paranoid of how rapidly she changes, and he becomes obsessed with the idea that he can fully control her every move, and this lead me to think that people
have become obsessed with trying to have full control over everything
that happens in their lives, and the lives of those close to them.
They do that without really thinking about the consequences of having such power.
Quite
frankly, it would drive us and those around us insane, because
who needs that much power?
-Where is the beauty in managing to change any situation if you didn’t like its outcome?
-What is the point in being able to control every single element of your life?
-Where is the beauty in managing to change any situation if you didn’t like its outcome?
-What is the point in being able to control every single element of your life?
Where
exactly is the living in that? We wouldn’t really be learning and experiencing
life that way, we would just be existing, perfectly yet dully.
-And what happens after you take control of your life?
-What happens when you’re able to control every single situation, every single person around you to suit your needs and wants at that certain point?
-What happens when you’re able to control every single situation, every single person around you to suit your needs and wants at that certain point?
You would have lived the
life but then what’s next?
Life
I realize isn’t really about perfection. A situation needs to be
perfect, a party needs to be perfect, but your entire life does not
need to be perfect. Life is messy and complicated for a reason, trying to take
away the mess and complications only gives quite a dull, uninteresting life.
Live,
Experience,
Fall,
Live,
To the fullest.
